Technology and science have made it possible for us to view insects more closely and in previously unknown dimensions today. We would like to share two spectacular results from science with you.

Researchers at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Villigen (Switzerland) have developed (with the help, for example, of X-ray radiation) a photographic technique with which they can film the inside of flying insects.  The films provide insight into one of the most complex mechanisms in nature and demonstrate that structural deformations are critical to how a fly controls its wing beats. The French Pasteur Research Institute has succeeded, for the first time in research history, in filming what exactly happens when a mosquito bites. Here is the link to the film on the institute’s website:
